So, we hired this guy to build us a fireplace mantle. First, he calls to confirm when I told him to come and TELLS me that after he comes over, he'll measure the fireplace then go home and build it, then come over to put in on..Whoa..I told him let's meet first, discuss what we want, etc. So, he brings his wife and she goes on and on how he's so great and is so talented yada yada...I had a feeling about them..you know that even though the price is good it just doesn't seem right, but I overlooked it because they were soooo cheap!
So, he gives us a price and we agree to let him build the mantle. This was on Friday. He was supposed to go get the wood(we even had a sawmill that we knew had the perfect piece that he called and reserved) He asked us for $50 for the wood. Not knowing him from Adam we said no-he obviously knew where we lived but we didn't feel comfortable giving him money until the job was done-thank goodness..
He was to come today at noon to fit the mantle that he apparantly built this weekend. Darryl was coming home from a trip and I didn't want to be here alone with some random guy so I scheduled it for when Darryl was home...12:00 comes and goes...1:00..same...2:00..you get the picture...So, Darryl calls him and asks him what's up...He hasn't even bought the wood yet!! He didn't call..nothing! He said he couldn't do it unless we bought the wood first or paid him for the wood...yeah right..I wasn't born yesterday buddy...
What I don't get is obviously this guy needs the money...he sat here forever on Friday wasting his and our time yet doesn't even bother to show up?!!
So, I'm sans mantle....
Thankfully, I found another guy with good references and seem to be very professional. Only time will tell..we'll see how this one goes...

A quick update
We have been so busy this week/weekend it's been hard to keep our heads above water.
The boys had the county baseball championship tournament all last week. They won all the games and went to the final game. Coincidentally, the team they played was the same team that was in our town championship. (This, to me, speaks volumes about our town's great baseball) So, it was two Mt Pleasant teams fighting for the county championship. We came in runner up. The boys played a good game but it just wasn't their day. One family had a very serious car accident right before the game and another family came and helped, brought the children to the game, while the mama was brought by ambulance to the hospital. That was all on our minds and with the heat and stress of it all, we just weren't in it. That poor mama is still in the hospital now so please keep them in your prayers. We did have something happen in the game that has never happened before. The boys play 3rd and shortstop. They both called they had a pop fly. Well, one caught it but since they were both watching the ball, they both ran into each other causing the ball to drop out of his glove. They both were so upset they started crying right on the ball field. It was pretty upsetting, but kindof humorous too...So, our team came in 2nd in the county tournament. We are so proud of them and will play with mostly all the same boys because our All Star team makes up 1/2 of our team and 1/2 the other team we played against.
We just started unpacking YESTERDAY! We were so busy with the tournaments and then went to help with the children of the family that had the accident. It was so sweet, one of their daughters fell asleep in my lap..she was precious...
So, yesterday we started unpacking. Today, Darryl is home so we can unpack some more. We also have an unexpected LARGE expense today. We have to drill for a new well. Our existing well is bad so we were very upset about it, but I really feel that the Lord will provide the funds to be able to pay for this.
I'm also hoping to visit the mama from the car accident in the hospital sometime today and am hoping to make them some food.
Sooooo...I'll update with pictures from the tournament soon! Whew!!
Our All Star tournament starts tonight so we will be busy with that as well. Wish those boys luck!

Ughhhh...
So we went to the house tonight to see if anything else has been done and I went right to the fireplace and....they installed the wrong mantel. I just wanted to turn around and walk out and pretend I didn't see it...
I know this is going to involve a fight, I just know it. The builder has made several mistakes already as well as *assumptions* on what I wanted rather than consulting me and this is one example. It looks NOTHING like what we discussed..absolutely nothing and I'm so frustrated right now...I get so frustrated with our builder because they don't EVER ask how to make it right or apologize for making a mistake. They just say things like ,"Tough deal with it" We have had to literally fight tooth and nail to get everything fixed that was wrong with this house. They have never once been customer service oriented-never once and that's why I'm dreading this tomorrow...
Darryl could sense I was so done. .He told me to find a picture of what we discussed, email it to him and he'll deal with it. He thrives on this kindof stuff-I absolutely hate it and am not looking forward to what tomorrow brings with this situation.
Good thing I had some ice cream in the freezer...

It's getting there...
Here is the house as of last Saturday. The hardwoods were beginning to get installed and check out the new fireplace-doesn't it look great! Much, much better than the last one they installed. ( If your curious what the last one looks like it's on some previous posts about the house.) It did require them to take all the brick out and rebuild it all but it was so worth it. This one fits the scale of the room so much better. I'm so glad Darryl fought for this because it really looks 100x better.
And part of our kitchen with the MICROWAVE finally some peace with the microwave(and yes it's Kenmore Elite just as I wanted-I didn't back down) We are still waiting on the island quartz because the island cabinets had to be rebuilt. I'll spare you the details because really I don't want to relive it...

I'm still alive..
Just so busy lately. I feel like I have so much to do and so little time. The clock is ticking on the house and should(FINGERS-CROSSED) be finished by the end of this month. We are finishing up our school year hopefully by the middle to end of this month(we school year round but very loosely in the summer). But, I'm hoping to take about a month off of schooling totally(except math, Bible and reading) so that we can move and get adjusted...
Will update more later...

House debacle
House is coming along....
Darryl and I have gone to battle several times in the last 3 weeks and frankly I'm exhausted...
The fireplace is being ripped out and redone because it wasn't what we asked for..
The island is being rebuilt because it looks like garbage and the countertops won't fit...
We had to pick out different wood floors because the floors we ordered are on backorder...forever..
But...It's absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to live there...
